Chief Accountant (Better People) Tempo Inteiro

Looking for Chief Accountantto Pemba/Mozambique for worldwide shipping company.

He/She is responsible for the efficient and effective functioning of the day-to-day financial and accounting operations. This oversight includes day to day record maintenance, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of the financial reporting function, treasury management and tax preparation.

Detail of the specific tasks:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• ü Implement, maintain and monitor accounting policies and procedures;
• ü Supervise Accounting staff to ensure: effective and timely production of all requisite reports, statements, memorandum and any and all other documentation on behalf of company and its
• clients;
• ü Ensure the timely and accurate maintenance of the financial books and records of company clients and market value accounting basis;
• ü Ensure timely and accurate quarterly and annual client reporting pursuant to the above standards;
• ü Coordinate and ensure compliance with the firm’s third party accountants;
• ü Manage all interactions with company property management and third party accounting firms to ensure their compliance with accounting and reporting procedures for consolidation;
• ü Interact with the asset management group during the budget preparation process for each asset in Company’s investment portfolio by providing them with financial information;
• ü Coordinate income and other cash distributions to separate account and commingled fund clients;
• ü Treasury maintenance for investment of excess cash, new bank accounts and other cash flow issues;
• ü Interact with outside accounting firms to ensure accurate and timely audits and tax filings for company and its clients;
• ü Manage the reporting process so that financial information provided to clients is both timely and accurate;
• ü Implement, maintain and monitor effective internal controls over company financial operations;
• ü Oversee and manage all banking relationships on behalf of company and its clients;
• ü Coordinate and supervise an annual custodial audit in accordance with regulations;
• ü Have an understanding of all major issues affecting acquisition, management, analysis and disposition of commercial real estate assets;
• ü Assist the asset management group and ensure that their responsibilities are properly met with respect to the financial aspects of acquisition, analysis and disposition assets;
• ü Maintain accurate and complete files and comply with the organizational framework of Company;
• ü Communicate all issues surrounding activities to Financial Controller on a regular basis;
• ü Other duties as per request of Financial Controller or Administrative & Financial Director.
• Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:
• ü Minimum of 4 years experience with accounting coumpany or in management positions involving financial operations;
• ü Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration;
• ü Strong GAAP accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis and MIS background;
• ü Strong ability to write and/or review financial statements including a complete set of footnotes;
• ü Strong management skills;
• ü Credibility, full disclosure and clean financial history;
• ü Conscientious about assignments and quality of work product;
• ü Accountable for specific performance;
• ü Team player with a focus on the Company’s results first;
• ü Ability to communicate and interact at all levels (upper management and staff);
• ü Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner;
• ü Extremely detail-oriented;
• ü Must be a strong leader with an ability to work with a strong group of other mangers in the firm;
• ü Exceptional work ethic;
• ü Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential for the position;
• ü Fluency in Portuguese (spoken and Written) preferential;
• ü Experience in Accountancy software;
• ü Must be a Mozambican Citizen or retain residence permit.
