Control Room Job Profile and Description
The job of the Control Room Operator is a highly focused position to ensure that the processes in the Feed Mill are controlled to fit the purpose and legal and quality compliance. TheControl Room Operator will develop and coordinate special activities and programs necessary to meet and maintain quality, safety and production standards and reliability of manufactured products. He documents processes and provides suggestions required to attain the best quality product possible. He may specialize in areas such as nutrition,management, production, product design or research and development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Know how to start and stop all feed-making equipment;
Understand the process and the flow of ingredients and feed;
Use computers to control the feed making process;
Be familiar with related switches and breakers in the control panel;
Complete all required forms carefully and accurately;
Listen for unusual noises and smells ( bearings, belts, motors, reducers, etc.);
Select bins for finished feed; keep feed inventory current and accurate;
Communicate with other mill operators and premix operators;
Check the feed formula carefully as each is pulled up on the screen;
Report maintenance problems to supervisor;
Perform simple tasks related to feed making ( bump ingredient bin, reset breakers, switch bins, etc.);
Be able to add premix ingredients as necessary, and complete paperwork;
Complete run reconciliation sheet at specified times; notify a supervisor of any calculations not within preset limits;
Partake in daily and monthly stock takes;
Ensure that physical and theoretical stocks used in the Feed mill tally. Raw materials in and Finished Product out;
Ensure that installed capacity for equipment is achieved and maintained;
Ensure that Quality standards are achieved;
Prepare daily reports for Feed Mill and Hand in by 7.15 am;
Do stock verification on daily basis;
Maintain shift schedules and assist Manager in shift changes;
Participate in the continuous improvement process and developing standard operating procedures;
Communicate and assist to implement Good Manufacturing Practices for all operations in the Feed Mill.
Skills and Specifications
Organizing, planning, and problem-solving skills;
Good interpersonal and communication skills, in both languages, Portuguese and English;
Good accounting and numerical and scientific ability;
Keen eye for detail. (Identify problem areas);
Willing to learn and be part of a continuous improvement plan. (Individually and corporately).
Education and Qualifications
Minimum high school or tertiary diploma;
Preferably accounting, biology and science;
Production experience / knowledge will be an advantage.
