Logistics Manager (Abt Associates) Tempo Inteiro

The USAID-funded PMI AIRS (Africa Indoor Residual Spraying 2) Project supports the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), as well as USAID Missions and Bureaus with malaria programs outside the PMI focus countries, in planning and implementing IRS programs with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria in Africa by enhancing USAID’s ability to implement IRS programs on the ground through cost-effective commodities procurement and logistics systems, access to technical expertise, and implementation of IRS in countries affected by malaria.

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Administration Manager 9/ Logistics Manager is responsible for the inventory management and logistics functions of the project.

Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Management of the project’s inventory control system, including storage, quality control, inventory record keeping, and inventory reporting;
• Directs and supervises the storage, distribution, and transport of IRS commodity goods and equipment throughout the country;
• Supervises Warehouse and Store Managers, and organizes capacity-building interventions to elevate their skills;
• Manages the logistics for all project activities, including spray operations, entomological activities, events such as workshops and meetings, lodging and travel arrangements, etc;
• Lead storekeeper’s training in supply chain management, stock and warerhouse management;
• In collaboration with the Environmental Compliance Officer:
  • Ensures that all health and safety measures are in place and followed at all store and spraying locations;
  • Ensures the clearance and proper disposal of all waste material and excess items from project stores;
  • Helps to train drivers and warehouse managers on environmental compliance issues.

Qualification requirements include the following:

• Bachelors Degree in Logistics, Business, Management, Administration, or other relevant field;
• At least four (4) years of relevant professional experience, with significant experience in the logistics and management of commodities;
• Demonstrated experience in stock, supply chain and warehouse management;
• Excellent management, supervisory, organizational, computer, and writing skills;
• Experience in regulatory and operational aspects of insecticide use and management;
• Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of direction and supervision;
• Demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team as a team leader, with the ability to accept inputs of other team members;
• Experience in working with districts and communities;
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal communication and computer skills;
• Experience with USAID and donor projects is highly desirable;
• Fluency in English and Portuguese.
