Job Summary

The M&E Officer will support the Strategic Insights Lead in strengthening family planning data systems across selected provinces. The Officer will be responsible for routine data collection, entry, verification, and reporting, as well as providing direct support to provincial health teams in using digital tools. The role emphasizes day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and follow-up to ensure data accuracy and compliance with national standards.

The M&E Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Strategic Insights Lead and in close coordination with program staff, provincial health authorities, and implementing partners. The position is based in Nampula, with frequent travel to provinces as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the rollout of family planning reporting tools in assigned provinces.
• Support the integration of family planning data into SIS-MA through data entry, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Provide on-the-ground support to provincial teams in routine data use, reporting, and compliance with guidelines.
• Assist in the preparation of training sessions and provide hands-on follow-up support for staff at health facilities.
• Contribute to routine monitoring activities, including data checks, field visits, and follow-up on data quality issues.
• Collect and document lessons learned from implementation activities and share with the Consultant and team.
• Support the preparation of regular progress reports, ensuring timely submission of accurate data to inform project monitoring.
• Represent PSI and the Ministry of Health in key technical working groups, including those on M&E and health information systems.
• Work closely with the Consultant to ensure activities are aligned with national guidelines.
• Maintain effective communication with provincial health staff and partners to support coordination.
• Provide timely updates on field activities, challenges, and successes to the Consultant.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, Statistics, Demography, or a related field.
• At least 3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation of health programs, preferably family planning or reproductive health.
• Experience with DHIS2/SIS-MA or other health information systems preferred.
• Strong skills in data collection, entry, and quality assurance.
• Ability to work effectively with provincial health teams and partners.
• Fluency in Portuguese (required); English an asset.
• Willingness to travel regularly to provinces.
