Job description

Since 2019, AeA Mozambique has managed a humanitarian portfolio of over USD 6 million implemented in Nhamatanda, Erati, Pemba, Chiure, Montepuez, Ancuabe and Metuge in Sofala, Nampula and Cabo Delgado provinces.

The overall objective of this position is to coordinate and lead the implementation and accountability of the “EARLY-RECOVERY SHELTER SUPPORT TO IDPS IN CABO DELGADO PROJECT” in response to the IDP crisis. The main activities associated with the project are:

1. The construction of resilient shelters using local materials.
2. Rehabilitation of temporary shelters and preparation for the rainy season.
3. Training and capacity building of local structures for natural disaster response preparedness and the establishment of DRR plans at the community level.

Objective of the position

The objective of the Project Coordinator position is to ensure that the project is successfully implemented in accordance with the respective logical frameworks, budgets, and timelines, as well as donor and AeA’s strategic frameworks and standards.

Main responsibilities

• Ensure and lead the technical coordination of the project and lead the implementation team;
• Represent Ayuda en Acción in humanitarian coordination spaces, including Shelter cluster and CCCM cluster at provincial and district level;
• Ensure external coordination with partners, local administrations, and other stakeholders;
• Support and supervise budget execution to ensure consistency with the technical formulation;
• Prepare periodic technical and financial reports of the project, as well as ensure its follow-up, monitoring and evaluation;
• Ensure compliance with external funders’ project proposal regulations and Ayuda en Acción’s internal regulations;
• Other activities required for the correct implementation of the project and activities of the organization.

• Workday: Full time;
• Type of contract: fixed term (December 2022 to May 2023);
• Work Center: Pemba, Cabo Delgado. (Mozambique);
• Remuneration in accordance with Ayuda en Acción’s remuneration policy.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience

• Architect, engineer, or technical engineer with a professional profile oriented to construction in local materials (or related sectors) with specialization studies and/or experience in international cooperation;
• At least 2 years of experience in management and implementation of development cooperation projects;
• At least 2 years of experience in humanitarian aid or related areas;
• Experience and knowledge of the NGO sector and International Organizations;
• Essential knowledge of Word, Excel and planning and budgeting programs.

Desirable skills and competencies

• Disaster risk management and/or Wash experience;
• Knowledge of ArcGIS/QGIS.

Languages

• High knowledge of English and Portuguese is essential (especially in reading comprehension);
• High level of Spanish is a plus.
