ELIM is recruiting for a Specialist in Nutrition with an advanced University degree or higher in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, or other health related science field is required.

The subject is a long-term programme in Mozambique anticipated in the first quarter of 2018. The programme seeks to provide Third Party Monitoring Services in Child Health and Nutrition section with its activities to be implemented in Tete, Zambezia, Sofala, Manica and Cabo Delgado. The programme shall be done in support to the Ministry of health  nutrition in emergency programs in Cabo Delgado, Tete, Sofala and Manica.

This consultancy shall provide evidence-based information and data on programme implementation, namely progress and results achieved against plans, experienced bottlenecks or constraints, and quality of implemented activities.

The Specialist in Nutrition will provide performance monitoring and evaluation of the programme to inform programme management and strategic direction.

Responsibilities shall be defined and discussed upon client’s solicitation

Required Experience

Required experience and qualifications include (use the following as examples):

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in nutrition, public health, related research or planning and management in relevant areas of maternal, infant and child nutrition, at the international level some of which preferably in a developing country is required;
• Relevant experience in health/nutrition program/ project development and management in any development agency is an asset;
• Knowledge of data collection protocols to ensure accurate data collection and verification is essential, as well as an ability to identify data trends and communicate this information to allow for changes in programme implementation;
• Past experience leading and building the capacity of field-based staff, to meet programme needs and deliverables is desired;
• Extraordinary organizational, verbal and written communication skills to manage project communications and disseminate project information are required;
• Experience in and knowledge of the Mozambican health sector strongly preferred;
• Strong written and oral presentation skills in English and Portuguese required;
• Excellent quantitative and qualitative skills;
• Strong working knowledge of written and spoken Portuguese;
• Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese and English;
• Fluency in the study areas local languages is an asset.
