SHERQ Manager Tempo Inteiro

GML – GRINDROD MOZAMBIQUE LIMITED, is looking for a highly qualified (1) SHERQ Manager to lead and manage all aspects of Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality in the company’s operations (GML/TCM/MCTL).

The candidate will be responsible for:

• Ensure compliance with local legal and regulatory standards.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001).
• Promote a proactive culture of safety and sustainability.
• Mitigate operational risks and reinforce safe working practices.
• Lead initiatives that strengthen environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead area inspections, internal audits and risk assessments, ensuring proper execution by the teams.
• Manage the implementation and maintenance of ISO management systems and ensure ongoing compliance with SHERQ policies and standards.
• Lead the investigation of incidents and accidents, ensuring complete reports, definition of corrective actions and monitoring of execution.
• Guide and approve training programs and toolbox talks, ensuring that all staff are aligned with SHERQ standards.
• Ensure that employees and contractors comply with SHERQ procedures, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
• Plan, delegate and monitor corrective and preventive actions for non-conformities, monitoring Key Performance Indicators and strategic results.
• Manage high-risk security standards in terminals, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
• Conduct SHERQ meetings and committees, promoting alignment between departments, strategic decision-making, and efficient communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead the physical security of the environment, including patrols, audits, and implementation of security procedures.
• Promote a safe and sustainable work environment, ensuring compliance with health, hygiene, evacuation and environmental protection standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Environment, Engineering or related field.
• A master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences or related areas will be a plus.
• ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 certifications will be considered a differential.

Minimum Period of Experience/ Training/ Skills

• Between 5 and 8 years of supervisory or management experience in SHERQ-related roles.
• Experience in SHERQ systems management, operational and administrative projects with deadlines.
• Skills in leadership, communication, strategic planning and decision making under pressure.
• Focus on details, results, continuous improvement, operational efficiency and diversity in the team.
