WASH Field Officer

The Good Neighbors (GNMOZ) is currently looking for a WASH Field Officer based in Nacaroa Sede locality in Nacaroa District, Nampula Province.

Objective of the project

To raise community awareness of sanitation and improve local sanitation through Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) activities in Nakaroa District, Nampula Province, Mozambique.

Vacancy Announcement

Good Neighbors Mozambique (GNMOZ) has secured funds in partnership with Good Neighbors Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for a WASH project in Nacaroa District of Nampula Province.

Duration

• Fixed-term contract for 4 months (16 th September 2024 – 15 th January 2025).
• Possibility of extension depending on the performance and the availability of funds.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Be in charge of a field officer in Mabalane District;
• Be in charge of a field WASH officer in Nacaroa Sede Locality of Nacaroa District;
• Conduct the daily monitoring of the progress of WASH activities at Schools and in the communities;
• Communicate with local people in Makhuwa;
• Report the progress of activities timely with the project team in Portuguese;
• Coordinate activities in the communities for smooth implementation with instructions from the Team Manager;
• Fulfill other duties assigned by the Team Manager.

Team Management

• Work with the team and government officers to ensure all activities are planned, prioritized, carried out and monitored in efficient and effective ways, with due consideration to gender and advocacy issues;
• Work with the team to carry out activities smoothly and provide adequate and regular verbal and written reports to the site manager;
• Ensure full compliance with security plans and protocols.

Any Other Special Requirements

• Participatory skills;
• Have a motorbike driving license;
• Experience in using CLTS/PHAST methodologies to promote rural hygiene and sanitation (at least 1 year);
• Professional, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible, culturally sensitive;
• Ability to adapt to restrictive local conditions;
• Ability to function well in a team and contribute positively to team dynamics;
• Ability to work in isolated conditions.

Languages Required

• Fluency in English, Portuguese (both spoken and written).
