Action Contre la Faim is a non-governmental organization that has been fighting hunger in the world for nearly 40 years. In mid2021, ACF decided to open a full structured mission in Mozambique and start its activities following the findings of an initial scoping mission in October/November 2020 and a rapid informal information gathering in May 2021 for nutrition. This strategy is based on these results, plus the information gathered through ACF field presence and cluster’s participation since early 2021. Given the volatility of the context, including security situation changes since March 2021 and the consequent increase of humanitarian needs, ACF aims to complete a Food Security & Livelihoods targeted assessment that will take place in December 2021. Humanitarian needs among conflict-affected populations in Cabo Delgado are wide-ranging and span all of ACF’s core sectors of expertise, including Food Security & Livelihoods, Nutrition & Health and WASH, which have been prioritized as part of our emergency strategy in partnership with local and international NGOs already present in Cabo Delgado to support the emergency response in the area. In light of the rapidly changing context, the humanitarian needs and ACF’s expertise, the geographic area of intervention will focus on H2R (Hard to Reach) areas comprising Mueda and Macomia, with complementarity in districts with higher needs and population movements.
