Purpose

The core purpose of this role is to provide technical support for the delivery of Information Technology function within AKS international school in Maputo. The IT Associate shall be responsible for providing first-line end-user support for the implementation, maintenance, use and continuous improvement of IT services, infrastructure, systems and cybersecurity controls within the assigned unit while ensuring compliance with organizational standards and service levels.

Position Description

This is a technical position reporting to Lead IT Specialist, AKS Mozambique. The employee shall be based in Mozambique and shall perform duties and responsibilities defined below, and such other duties and obligations as may be identified to the employee by AKS Mozambique from time to time.

Context

The Aga Khan Schools (AKS), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a global education system of schools, hostels and non-formal education programmes, serving more than 120,000 learners annually across 12 countries in East Africa, the Middle East and South and Central Asia. AKS operations in Mozambique include an international K-12 school with residential facility in Maputo offering International Baccalaureate Early Years Programme, Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme.

Major Responsibilities Include:

1. IT Service Delivery & End User Support

• Act as the primary point of contract for all IT related incidents and service requests.
• Provide end-user support, and resolve assigned incidents and service requests, as per defined service levels.
• Document delivery of services and keep IT helpdesk system up to date.

2. Technology Infrastructure

• Support the planning, design, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of technology infrastructure, including computer networks, cloud services, telephony, computing devices, education technology, teaching and learning equipment, security and surveillance systems, etc.
• Support the documentation of technology infrastructure.

3. Information Security

• Support the implementation of approved cybersecurity policies, controls, compliance programmes and industry standards to protect technology infrastructure, systems and data.
• Support periodic security assessments, penetration testing and remediation.
• Support effective identity management, vulnerability management and security awareness initiatives.
• Support the cyber incident response and post-incident review processes.
• Support the compliance with statutory regulations like data protection acts from IT perspective.

4. Information Systems, Solutions and Innovation

• Support the evaluation, implementation, maintenance, licensing, use and effective utilization of approved information systems, education technology and other solutions.
• Support the effective utilization of technology and innovative solutions for digital transformation initiatives that improve educational delivery, operational efficiency and user experience.

5. Data Management and Analytics

• Support the implementation and operations of data warehouse and analytics tool for dashboard reporting.
• Support the organizational data security and compliance initiatives.

6. IT Asset Management

• Track the lifecycle and costs of IT assets and software licensing.
• Support planning, procurement, deployment, maintenance and disposal of IT assets.
• Maintain an up-to-date list of IT assets including software subscriptions and support its use for replacement planning and timely renewal of subscriptions.

7. IT Projects Support

• Support the implementation and delivery of assigned technology projects and workstreams.
• Support to ensure that projects are delivered within agreed scope, quality, budget and timelines.

8. IT Vendor Coordination

• Support vendor identification, technical evaluations, vendor coordination, service level monitoring and vendor performance review activities.

9. IT Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

• Support implementation and validation of backup, recovery and resilience processes, testing and maintenance activities.

10. Other Duties

• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Attributes

• At least a diploma in computer science, information technology, information management, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in IT support.
• Preferably relevant technical certifications.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to document, communicate, coordinate, and present in English.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
