Transactor – Corporate and Investment Banking Tempo Inteiro

Purpose

Our client has a Corporate and Investment Banking Team focusing on Finance and Banking requirements for Corporate clients in Mozambique. The business is looking to appoint a skilled Transactor to operate in the CIB segment across the Term Lending and Trade and Working Capital product sets based in Maputo.

Responsibilities

• Successful candidate will work closely with the CIB Coverage and Sales team, bring them in to collaborate on opportunities and also structuring transactions;
• Maintaining TWC relationships with corporate clients and build a network in this arena;
• Manage the portfolio of trade assets for optimum capital efficiency in conjunction with the risk distribution team;
• Responsible for identifying and managing risk (Credit, operations, compliance etc);
• Engage with corporates to implement funding solutions;
• Develop innovative structuring solutions for term and trade finance using: Cash and Trade Collateral, Insurance, DFIs and other collateral and risk mitigate;
• Responsible for engaging with Corporate credit and motivating funding solutions, Credit lines and business cases;
• Establishing new, and maintaining existing client/partner relationships, in conjunction with the Coverage team to ensure profitable investment banking styled, debt focused deal flow within the company;
• Selling Term Finance, Trade finance and Working Capital products to corporate clients;
• Identifying transaction specific risks including credit, taxation, accounting and legal;
• Converting new leads into deals closed, from origination, through structuring, the soliciting of Credit Approval and deal implementation, closure and aftercare;
• Manage the credit approval process in conjunction with credit team;
• Assist the Legal Risk Team with the drafting and review of Mozambican jurisdictional facility and security documentation;
• Managing and assisting with the deal closure and implementation process in collaboration with an established middle office team;
• Building on the existing strong relationships with the Credit and Market Risk teams, Legal and Compliance functions and Middle and Back office areas;
• Identify cross selling opportunities between CIB divisions in the Bank/Group.

Qualifications and Experience

• B.Sc. in Economics, Accounting and Finance or any finance or social science related courses with a minimum of Second Class Lower division. BCom, B.Eng or LLB Degree; CA(SA), CFA, MBA qualifications advantageous;
• At least 5 years’ experience in Corporate and Investment Banking, working with Term Lending, Trade Finance and Working Capital products;

Technical Skills

• Strong financial modeling skills;
• Strong analytical, numerical and writing skills;
• Proficient in the use of Excel to prepare spread sheets and other modelling tools for generating reports in a logical manner;
• Proficient in the use of PowerPoint and strong presentation skills;
• Good understanding of Credit;
• Advanced level product/processes knowledge.

Business Skills

• Excellent report writing skills (reports are presented to the STCF business and FICC Credit Committees);
• Ability to critically assess the commercial viability of clients’ business models and operations, identifying viable lending/financing opportunities;
• Ability to originate, critically assess, develop and close structured trade and commodity finance transactions;
• Ability to analyze company financial statements, interpret corporate credit quality and to identify and quantify business and financial risks from a lending/credit perspective;
• A passion for structured lending and investment banking generally, and commodity markets and structured (trade) finance specifically;
• General understanding of a variety of financial derivative products and instruments will be a distinct advantage;
• A good understanding of corporate credit ratings, portfolio theory and credit pricing will be a distinct advantage;
• Creating new trading strategy and improving the existing ones to cope with changing market scenario;
• Comprehensive understanding of industry regulations & all other regulatory requirements.

Additional Competencies (will serve as strong recommendation)

• Post-graduate studies / qualifications in banking, finance / financial markets;
• Proven experience in structuring and implementing working capital and supply chain solutions for clients;
• A sound understanding of forex markets will be beneficial;
• Existing strong Mozambican Corporate relationships;
• Existing Lending and Structuring experience.
