Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. is a German non-governmental organisation, dedicated to excellence in the field of first aid, ambulance service, social service programmes and other projects in the medical and social field. The Federal Headquarters (HQ) are based in Berlin, Germany. Johanniter International Assistance is the operational unit for humanitarian aid, development co-operation and emergency relief, implementing and supporting projects in Health, Nutrition, WASH as well as Food Security & Income Generation worldwide. Overall job purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Rural Entrepreneurship Intern (REI) will support the Food Security and Livehoods (FSL) team in providing technical expertise on entrepreneurial interventions to improve the livelihoods and family economy, with a particular focus on community capacity-building and awareness sessions about agriculture, livestock, the economic transformation of rural livelihoods by ensuring value addition to rural resources and products together with household technical support for those with difficulties and special vulnerabilities; it will also include the development of strategies to marketing and monetise livelihoods. The REI will be daily focused on the income-generating component of the FSL activities assisting the Officers, and bridging production and value chain development from all activities, such as staple crops production, horticulture, livestock and other entrepreneurial actions. Under this position, JIA offers an overarching and fulfilling experience for entry-level professionals and new graduates who wish to pursue a career in rural economy and agribusiness targeting fragile communities. The REI will join a multi-disciplinary, flexible and experienced team that factors constant innovation and supportive environment to pilot ground-breaking initiatives. The position requires extensive fieldwork and movement in Cabo Delgado districts.
