Part 1: Role Purpose:
The Project Officer will support the implementation of the Right to Care project in partnership with UNICEF. Our planned programme will include provision of psychosocial support to children displaced by insecurity, case management for children at risk and livelihoods support for the most vulnerable caregivers. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to be part of setting up a new project, with responsibility for providing capacity and technical support to two local implementing partners, ensuring that the project is delivered to a high standard aligned with the work plan and budget with measureable impacts. This job role will require flexible working, with potential for internal travel and reports directly to the Project Manager.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
1) Project Implementation (50%)
· Work directly with implementing partners deliver project activities aligned with the work plan and budget.
· Provide capacity and technical support in areas of child protection and IGA’s to implementing partners.
· Identify gaps in knowledge of implementing partners and deliver technical training workshops to address identified gaps.
· Conduct field visits to project locations to monitor implementation of project activities and assessments.
· Support coordination and effective communication between Street Child and the implementing partners.
2) Reporting (30%)
· Keep the Project Manager informed on the activities of the project by providing relevant correspondence, reports and meeting minutes as well as making regular updates.
· Work closely with implementing partners to support preparation and submission of reports on approved frequency to the Project Manager, including collection of data.
· Support Project Manager in completion and submission of regular donor reports.
3) Operational delivery (20%)
· Support the Project Manager with co-ordination between Street Child, UNICEF and other agency partners.
· Represent Street Child at stakeholder meetings as required e.g. Protection cluster, Child protection Working Group Meeting, NGO Forum
· Support the design and planning of new projects to expand to country programme portfolio
Part 3: Person Specification
Education / Qualifications: University degree in social sciences or equivalent or relevant experience.
Experience and Knowledge:
· At least 2 years working in international development with experience in child protection in emergencies and protracted crises
· Experience in managing people/teams.
· Experience of delivering training workshops
· Experience with start-up of projects
· Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities.
Skills and Abilities
· Strong analytical, reporting, problem solving, organisational and planning skills.
· Relationship building skills
· Strong monitoring and evaluation skills/experience
· Knowledge of project cycle management.
Other:
· Fluency in Portuguese (written and spoken) and excellent writing skills
