Field Construction Officer

The Good Neighbors (GNMOZ) is currently looking for a Field Construction Officer based in Mabalane district in Gaza province.

Objective of the project

To improve health status of the community through the provision of safe water, sanitation and hygiene services in Mabalane District in Gaza Province.

Vacancy Announcement

Good Neighbors Mozambique (GNMOZ) has secured funds in partnership with its counterpart Good Neighbors Japan through Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a WASH project in Gaza province.

Duration

• Fixed-term contract for 6 months (24 th September 2024 – 23 rd March 2025).

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Be in charge of a field officer in Mabalane District;
• Conduct daily monitoring of the construction progress for water supply systems and school latrines in the project targeting communities;
• Communicate with local people in Xhangana;
• Report activity progress timely with the project team;
• Coordinate activities in the communities for smooth implementation with instructions from the WASH Manager;
• Fulfill other duties assigned by WASH Manager.

Team Management

• Work with the team and government staff to ensure that all activities are planned, prioritized, carried out and monitored efficiently and effectively, with due attention to gender issues and advocacy;
• Work with the team to carry out activities smoothly and provide adequate and regular verbal and written reports to the site manager;
• Ensure full compliance with security plans and protocols.

• Ability to adapt to restrictive local conditions;
• Ability to function well in a team and contribute positively to team dynamics;
• Ability to work in isolated conditions.

Qualification not required but advantage

• Experience in living in Mabalane District;
• University degree in engineering fields;
• 3 years of experience in community activities.

Languages Required

• Fluency in English, Portuguese (both spoken and written).
